President Bashar al-Asad appointed six new ministers including a woman, Kawkab al-Sabah Dayeh, to head the newly-created Ministry of Environment on April 24. Other appointments included Interior Minister Saeed Sammur (replacing Basam Abdel Majid); Minister of Health Riad Saeed (replacing Mahir Husami); Minister of Justice Ahmad Yunis (replacing Muhammad al-Ghafri); Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansur Azzam (replacing Ghasan Laham).
