After Obama’s inauguration and with the key nominees for his national security team becoming clear, Mathews responded to questions on international topics including the withdrawal from Afghanistan, the European and U.S. financial crises, and rising sectarian strife in the Middle East.

Mathews is president of the Carnegie Endowment. Before her appointment in 1997, her career included posts in both the executive and legislative branches of government, in management and research in the nonprofit arena, and in journalism and science policy.

    Do you perceive that gigantism of Turkey along with the islamization of it's state will effect to another uncontrollable monster in the future, that US will have to fight against?
