Conference RoomThe Carnegie Endowment’s conference center provides an ideal location for meetings and functions in the national capital area. Located in the heart of Dupont Circle, the center is dedicated to serving the needs of both public and private sector organizations in the area. The rich cross section of clients served includes the Inter-American Dialogue, the Institute for Conservation Leadership, the National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children, and Booz Allen Hamilton.

First-floor Shotwell and Butler boardrooms are each equipped with fixed board tables that cannot be removed.

Each of these rooms can accommodate sixteen or less at the table and includes space for perimeter seating, basic audiovisual presentations such as videoconferencing, and space for catering services.

Services range from meeting room catering and audiovisual support to teleconferencing and creative media expertise. We can work with you to provide appropriate equipment and labor for your function or produce an entire media event.

Please Note

  • Evening events (starting 4:00 p.m. or later) will be charged the full-day rate.
  • Day events (full or half day) going beyond 5:00 p.m. will incur an additional half day room rental charge.
  • Setup time will be counted for computing total room reservation time.
  • The conference center may not be used for partisan political activities.
  • The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is a smoke-free environment.
  • All conference center events must conclude by 9:00 p.m.
  • Requested seating style is required at the time of your room reservation. Changes are possible with prior approval from the conference center manager.

Cancellation Fees

Room reservations can be canceled up to twenty business days before your event without penalty. You will be charged 25 percent of the room rental rate for cancellations between fifteen and twenty business days before your event, 50 percent of the room rental rate for cancellations between five and fifteen business days before your event and 75 percent of the room rental rate for cancellations within five business days of your event. Should Carnegie be able to re-sell your room(s), all cancellation fees will be waived.

The Carnegie Endowment offers state-of-the-art audiovisual support for your meetings and events. Many of your audiovisual needs can be supported by Carnegie. However, for any advanced support, please see our audiovisual vendors below.

Guidelines

  • Events serving hot lunch and/or dinner to over 50 guests must have at least two serving staff from the caterer. Internal Carnegie staff must verify the availability of Manuel before requesting his services.
  • Catering orders must be submitted to the conference manager to ensure quality of delivered food and beverage.
  • Drop-off services should provide cutlery. Carnegie will provide cutlery for a minimum fee of $25.00.
  • For events serving alcohol, the client and/or the caterer above must submit a DC liquor license.

Parking

The Carnegie Endowment does not offer on-site parking. Below are local parking garages within a five–ten minute walk from the Carnegie Building.

Dupont is the closest Metro station within a five-minute walk from the Carnegie Building.
