Book Launch: Demystifying Vladimir Putin in a New Graphic Novel

Tue. November 15th, 2022
In Person, Washington, DC, and Live Online

Despite Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, nuclear saber-rattling, and crackdown on dissent at home, the Russian leader remains one of the world's least understood leaders. Luckily, Accidental Czar: The Life and Lies of Vladimir Putin, a new graphic novel by Carnegie Vice President for Studies Andrew S. Weiss, provides fresh insight into what makes Putin tick.

Illustrated by New York Times bestselling comics artist Brian “Box” Brown, the book captures Putin’s outsized impact on the global stage and portrays his goals and fears in the context of Russia’s convulsive 1,000-year history.

Please join Andrew and veteran journalist Julia Ioffe for an engaging discussion of Accidental Czar: The Life and Lies of Vladimir Putin. A book signing and reception will follow the event. Copies will be available for purchase.
