    Natasha de Teran is the former head of corporate affairs at SWIFT, where she led SWIFT’s global communications, government affairs, public policy, and regulatory functions from 2012 to 2019. During her time at SWIFT, she acted as chief company spokesperson, dealing with matters ranging from payments modernization to sanctions and terrorism-related data issues, as well as the cyber attack on the Bangladesh Bank and the Belgium-based cooperative’s subsequent cyber-security response. 

    Natasha joined SWIFT from LCH.Clearnet, where she served as head of public affairs. Before then, Natasha worked as a journalist for ten years, specializing in financial regulation, market structures, and complex financial instruments. She wrote as a columnist at Financial News and as a contributor to the Banker, and her work appeared in a wide range of publications, including: the Wall Street Journal, Times, Financial Times, Risk, Week, Money Week, and Corriere della Sera. Natasha also co-wrote the industry-text book on financing, Collateral: Securities Lending, Repo, OTC Derivatives and Future of Finance, and edited a range of specialist financial books.

    Natasha switched to journalism after completing an eight-year stint in London, where she worked in the derivatives, repo, government bond, and the financial markets.

    A member of Carnegie’s FinCyber Advisory Group, Natasha is a former board member of the Information Technology Industry Council, member of the European Commission’s Payment Systems Markets Expert Group, and served two terms on the European Securities and Markets Authority’s (ESMA) Post Trade Standing Committee.
