Nick Beecroft is nonresident scholar in the Technology and International Affairs Program at the Carnegie Endowment. He has deep experience in the assessment and management of emerging risks, developed as a UK military intelligence officer and in the insurance industry.
He has led strategic initiatives to foster the development of the cyber insurance market. At Lloyd’s of London, he was responsible for a program of research and development on emerging risks, creating the foundation for product innovation and regulatory oversight of new and complex risks. His work at the interface of the policy, research, and business communities has focused on enhancing the role of insurance in meeting challenges such as systemic risk arising through common technology dependence, cyber risk to critical infrastructure, and geopolitics in cyberspace.
Beecroft previously served as an intelligence officer in the Royal Air Force. He led teams on operations in Afghanistan and fulfilled roles at the tactical and strategic levels of operation. He played a key role in the response to terrorist attacks while seconded to a national security organization.
