    The Workshop on Transparency, co-organized by the Carnegie Endowment and the World Bank in July 1999, brought together analysts from the Carnegie Endowment, the World Bank, Transparency International, the IMF, and the academic community to explore the current research on transparency in environmental policy, economics, and politics. Participants also put forward ideas concerning the future implications, implementation and limits of transparency as an alternative tool of governance.

    No More Secrets? Policy Implications of Commercial Remote Sensing Satellites Conference

    The "No More Secrets? conference provided a forum to discuss the policy tradeoffs raised by the advent of commercial high-resolution satellites. The conference brought together representatives of a score of countries, many U.S. government departments, congressional staff, several NGOs, the private sector, and the media for a day-long immersion in the technical and policy issues associated with the emergence of commercial high-resolution satellites.
