Victoria Araj is no longer with the Carnegie Endowment.

Victoria Araj was the commissioning editor for the Program on Civil-Military Relations in Arab States at the Carnegie Middle East Center. Araj holds a PhD in Peace Studies from the University of Bradford, UK and a Masters in International Development: Poverty, Conflict, and Reconstruction from the University of Manchester. Her research centers on civil military relations in Turkey and the Middle East, Islamist political parties, authoritarianism, and security. Araj is a regular guest speaker on these issues at various international conferences and served editorial roles in Middle East focused policy journals in the UK and Turkey.

Previously Araj was a visiting fellow at Sabanci University in Istanbul and the European Commission. She is currently a mentor with the Women in International Affairs Network and an advisor on governance and conflict for the Swedish Institute of Effective Governance and Stabilization.
