Mohammad Ali Kadivar’s new volume bolsters the argument that popular protest movements can contribute to democratic durability when they are well-organized and have a solid plan for the post-transition period. But it does not explain why some countries with short periods of mobilization have had durable democracy lasting decades, while others have not.
