The authors of this monograph take a hard look at the complicated issue of perishable-crop agriculture and its workforce. They offer a number of suggestions for retaining the robust competitiveness of the industry while dramatically improving the working conditions of those whose labor is an important factor in its success. Among their recommendations are ways to guarantee the agriculture sector a legal supply of labor in return for improved conditions for those workers.
