Join the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace for an address by Under Secretary of the U.S. Treasury for International Affairs Nathan Sheets. Sheets will discuss will discuss international economic policy in the Obama administration and the importance of continued American leadership. Carnegie President William J. Burns will moderate the discussion.
Nathan Sheets was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the Treasury Department’s under secretary for international affairs in September 2014.

About the Geoeconomics and Strategy Program
The Geoeconomics and Strategy Program seeks to promote and provoke collaboration and debate among experts in national security strategy, foreign policy, and international economic policy, in order to enhance understanding of: 1) the use of economic instruments to promote geopolitical goals; 2) the development of national security strategy and foreign policy to advance national economic interests and the stability of the global economy; and 3) the future of the international political and economic order.
About the International Economics Program
The Carnegie International Economics Program monitors and analyzes short- and long-term trends in the global economy, including macroeconomic developments, trade, commodities, and capital flows, drawing out their policy implications. The current focus of the program is the global financial crisis and its related policy issues. The program also examines the ramifications of the rising weight of developing countries in the global economy among other areas of research.
