}Supporting Tunisia’s Transition
Mon, May 30th, 2016
Hotel Sofitel Brussels Europe, Brussels
Tunisia remains the Arab Awakening’s last best hope. The country’s political transition is as remarkable as it is fragile—imperiled by both security challenges and significant socioeconomic obstacles. How can Tunisia and its international partners, particularly the EU, forge a new and more constructive dynamic to reverse the country’s recent troubling trajectory?
To mark the European launch of a new Carnegie paper entitled “Between Peril and Promise: A New Framework for Partnership With Tunisia,” co-author Marc Pierini moderated a lively discussion featuring Ons Ben Abdelkarim, president of the Tunisian NGO Al Bawsala, Kabil Daoud, member of the political bureau of the Afek Tounes party, and Michael Köhler, director for the Southern neighborhood at the European Commission Directorate General for the Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations.
