About

Seth Lazar is a nonresident scholar in the Carnegie Technology and International Affairs Program. He is professor of philosophy at the Australian National University, where he is an Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow. He is also a distinguished research fellow of the University of Oxford Institute for Ethics in AI and a visiting faculty researcher at Google DeepMind.

He has worked and published widely on the ethics of war, risk, and AI, and founded the Machine Intelligence and Normative Theory (MINT) Lab, where he leads research projects in philosophy of computing and AI safety. His work on AI is published in leading philosophy journals such as Noûs and Philosophy & Public Affairs, as well as major international computer science venues such as ICML and ACM FAccT.
