Now, its reach has expanded into the western world and has truly changed the political climate in many western states, creating multiple crises of identity, politics, values and security in Europe. On March 28, 2006 Olivier Roy, one of the foremost experts on this issue, provided insight on what the borderlessness of Islam means for western society as well as the global community.
Olivier Roy, Director of the French National Center for Scientific Research, is widely recognized as one of today’s most innovative thinkers on issues in Central Asia, Iran, Political Islam and Islam in the West. His groundbreaking research can be found in numerous articles and his recent books Globalised Islam: The Search For A New Ummah and Islamist Network:The Pakistan-Afghan Connection.
