WASHINGTON—Vice President Joe Biden delivered a keynote speech on U.S.-India relations at an event on Monday, July 13 hosted by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The speech followed a full-day conference at Carnegie that coincided with the tenth anniversary of the U.S.-India civil nuclear deal. The vice president said the landmark agreement “removed the single largest irritant in the relationship between the two greatest democracies.”

Speaking to a small group of invited guests at the Willard, Vice President Biden spoke on the strategic importance of the U.S.-India partnership. He touched on issues related to the strong economic, security, and political ties between the two countries.

“Together we transformed the bilateral relationship into a global partnership based on shared values, interests, responsibilities,” he said. “All of these will go to shape the next century if we stay the course.”
