Taijiro Kimura

Taijiro Kimura was a visiting scholar with the Nonproliferation Program at the Carnegie Endowment from 2007 until 2008. His research focuses on nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation, nuclear weapons, and the NPT review process.

Prior to joining the Endowment, Kimura was deputy director in the Arms Control and Disarmament Division, and special assistant for arms control, disarmament and nonproliferation issues at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served as first secretary of the Japanese Delegation to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva , where he was responsible for matters on disarmament, NPT, the Biological Weapons Convention, and the First Committee of the UN General Assembly. Kimura was a desk officer on the Chemical Weapons Convention at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also served as the political secretary at the Japanese Embassies in Peru and Guatemala .
