Narrative Shifts and Conflict Realities: Unveiling Grand War Narratives in Gaza

Thu. January 18th, 2024
Virtual

Join us for an engaging panel discussion on the evolving narratives around the Palestinian-Israeli conflict since October 7, 2023, and their profound impact on the conflict. Our distinguished panelists—Hussein Ibish, Tahani Mustafa, and Leila Seurat —will analyze how these narratives have shaped policies and actions, influencing perspectives on both sides.

The discussion will delve into the aftermath of October 7, exploring the contending narratives each side in the conflict has had, and how this has affected the conflict’s dynamics. On the one side is an Israeli perception that Hamas’s actions revealed the group’s genocidal intentions, while on the Palestinian side the narrative has been focused on how October 7 was a consequence of the enduring Israeli occupation and the marginalization of the Palestinian cause.

This panel will be moderated by Michael Young, senior editor at the Malcolm H. Kerr Carnegie Middle East Center in Beirut and editor of Diwan and will take place on January 18, at 4:00 PM EET and 9:00 AM EST.

This panel will be held in English. Viewers are encouraged to actively participate by submitting questions through the live chat feature on Facebook and YouTube. For further details and inquiries, please contact Najwa Yassine at najwa.yassine@carnegie-mec.org.
