On the Road in Yemen

Farea al-Muslimi discusses a recent trip during which he discovered the wartime realities of his own country.

Published on August 8, 2017

Farea al-Muslimi is a non-resident scholar at the Carnegie Middle East Center, where his research focuses on Yemen and the Gulf states. He is also chairman of the Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies, a youth-led think tank that aims to bring new perspectives to Yemeni and regional affairs. Recently, Muslimi traveled around Yemen to get a better sense of the situation on the ground there, and also stopped in Oman, about which he wrote earlier this week in an article titled “Master of the Middle.” Diwan met with Muslimi at the beginning of August to get his insights into the Yemen trip.
