The Carnegie Endowment founded the Carnegie Moscow Center in 1993. The Center grew rapidly and now boasts a staff of thirty-five, all but two of whom are Russian. The Center conducts independent policy research in the areas of domestic politics, security and proliferation, economics, energy, and ethnicity and nation building.
