Tue, December 3rd, 2019 - Fri, December 6th, 2019

Bengaluru | The Future of Data

Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, fintech, and biotechnology rely on cross-border flows of data. However, the transfer of data raises several pressing policy challenges. To address critical issues in this area and building on the resounding success of the past three editions, Carnegie India hosted its 4th annual Global Technology Summit (GTS) from December 4 to 6, 2019 at the Leela Palace in Bengaluru.

The Summit focused on the theme, Future of Data, and brought together leading government representatives, expert practitioners, industry leaders, public policy professionals, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, startups, academics, and scholars from India and abroad to identify possible strategies to balance data flows and privacy in the age of digital globalization.

The Summit commenced with four simultaneous workshops, organized as part of our KnowledgeTransfer@Carnegielndia initiative, for students and young professionals on data localization, fintech, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology. We also brought together startups and venture capitalists for a special workshop which provided a forum for them to voice the challenges they face in balancing innovation and data privacy. This was followed by two and a half days of captivating discussions on data empowerment, future of global data flows, artificial intelligence governance, fintech regulations, role of health technologies in combating pandemics, opportunities and challenges posed by drones, data security concerns around 5G networks, and governance of dual-use technologies.
