Rolf Schuette has joined the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace as a visiting scholar for four months. He will explore EU-Russia relations.
“We feel fortunate to have Rolf at the Endowment for the next few months. With the recent expansion of the European Union to the East, Schuette’s expertise on Russian and East European affairs will be a great complement to Carnegie’s Russia Program,” said Anders Aslund, director of the Carnegie's Russian and Eurasian Program.
Rolf Schuette is on sabbatical from the German Foreign Ministry. He has been a diplomat since 1981, most recently as head of the division responsible for German foreign relations with Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova. Schuette also brings an expertise and experience with the United Nations and Middle East affairs. He graduated from Göttingen University, Germany with a degree in German Philology, Russian Philology and Political Science. Schuette was also a Fulbright student at Ohio University and studied at the Bologna Center of Johns Hopkins University.
