The Kremlin on Wednesday lashed out at U.S. plans to modernize 20 nuclear weapons stationed at a German airbase, with spokesman Dmitry Peskov characterizing the move as a potential "violation of the strategic balance in Europe," that would demand a Russian response.

N.Korea Tidying Up Rocket Launch Site

North Korea has fenced off and tidied up a rocket launch site as the Workers Party's 70th anniversary on Oct. 10 approaches, a government source here said Wednesday. But there are no signs of an imminent launch at the remote site in Tongchang-ri, North Pyongan Province. 

S. Korea, U.S. reaffirm close coordination against NK provocation

South Korea and the United States reaffirmed their resolve Thursday to closely coordinate against a possible North Korean missile launch, warning that the North's provocation would violate relevant U.N. Security Council resolutions. The two allies just wrapped up the Korea-U.S. Integrated Defense Dialogue (KIDD), which ran for two days in Seoul.
