North Korea Readying Another Nuclear Bomb For Test – Kim Jong-un

Kim Jong-un has said North Korea will soon detonate another nuclear warhead and test launch ballistic missiles capable of carrying them, according to the official KCNA news agency. Kim made the comments as he supervised a successful simulated test of atmospheric re-entry of a ballistic missile that measured the “thermodynamic structural stability of newly developed heat-resisting materials”, KCNA said.

Iran Says Missiles for Self Defense, Tests Do Not Violate Nuclear Deal

Iran's foreign minister said on Tuesday that its ballistic missiles were for self-defense and that recent tests condemned by the United States did not violate an historic nuclear deal between Tehran and six world powers. Speaking in Australia, Mohammad Javad Zarif said that the missiles tested last week would never be used in aggression. The tests drew international concern and prompted a meeting on Monday of the 15-nation United Nations Security Council.

India Test-Fires Nuclear-Capable Agni-I Ballistic Missile

China's total nuclear power generation capacity is expected to reach 120-150 gigawatts (GW) by 2030, requiring the construction of an average of eight to 10 new units a year over the next 15 years, leading nuclear developer CGN Power said on Monday. "We believe the following 15 years will be the period of opportunities for the development of China's nuclear power," the firm, the listed unit of the state-owned China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), said in its annual results rep ..

The Japanese government will team up with experts in the United States and France to develop brand new technologies to collect melted fuel from crippled reactors at Fukushima, an official says. Removal of the melted rods at the nuclear plant, which was wrecked by a tsunami five years ago, is one of the biggest challenges of the mammoth cleanup, a huge project expected to take up to four decades.

Chinese Bidders Expected for Turkey's Nuclear Project

Turkey will open up the bidding process to build the country's third nuclear power plant next year, and an official said he believes Chinese companies will aggressively pursue the contract, worth $22 billion to $25 billion. The site of the project has been finalized and the plan is to build four nuclear reactors with a total installed capacity of 5,000 megawatts, said Murat Mercan, a former deputy energy minister of Turkey. He spoke to China Daily during a weekend event held by the World nergy Council in Beijing.
