GaitherJames C. Gaither is chairman of the Carnegie Endowment Board of Trustees and managing director of Sutter Hill Ventures in Palo Alto, California. He has been a leading Silicon Valley lawyer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist for many years and currently serves as the chairman of the board of the James Irvine Foundation and as vice chairman of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

MathewsJessica T. Mathews has served as president of the Carnegie Endowment since 1997. Her career includes posts in the executive and legislative branches of government, in management and research in the non-profit arena, and journalism. From 1993–1997 she was the founding vice president and director of research of the World Resources Institute.

FantonJonathan F. Fanton became president of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation on September 1, 1999. Previously he had been president of the New School for Social Research in New York City for 17 years.

SchmidtEric Schmidt is chairman of the executive committee and chief executive officer of Google USA . Prior to joining Google, Schmidt led Novell's strategic planning, management, and technology development as chairman and CEO, and was chief technology officer and corporate executive officer at Sun Microsystems, Inc.
