Study Group: The Role of the Private Sector in International Affairs

Tue. October 6th, 1998

This study group examines the policy implications of business self-regulation. Study group participants include NGO representatives involved in designing or monitoring corporate codes of conduct; government officials with expertise in standards-setting, regulation, or codes of conduct; policy analysts whose work examines the appropriate role of business and government in managing global issues; and representatives from business and from industry associations who are familiar with private standards setting and corporate codes. The study group provides a forum for exchanging information among individuals who would not otherwise meet, given that the areas brought together under the umbrella of this project are generally studied in isolation.
