Conferences
Each year, the International Migration Policy Program hosts and sponsors a number of conferences designed to gather scholars, policy makers, advocates and government officials for intensive discussions of pertinent topics. Conferences and seminars vary greatly in size and purpose -- from instructing and informing large groups to theorizing and innovating in smaller circles. Annual conferences occur in the Comparative Citizenship and Metropolis projects. Many others are planned to address timely policy concerns, such as President Clinton's Initiative on Race.

Briefings
The International Migration Policy Program?s briefings are Washington?s premier forum for the discussion of current immigration and refugee issues. In the briefings, government officials, advocates, researchers, and representatives of international organizations present their views and answer challenging questions from an informed, if often skeptical, audience. The subject matter has ranged from welfare reform and its impact on immigrants to regional cooperation on migration and the humanitarian crises in the Great Lakes region of Africa.
