Next Steps in Ukraine

On Wednesday, January 19, 2005, Carnegie Endowment and UNDP co-hosted a breakfast meeting on “Next Steps in Ukraine.” The speakers were Dr. Kalman Mizsei, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and Assistant Administrator of the UN Development Program, and The Honorable Steven Pifer, Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine. Dr. Anders Åslund, Director of the Russian and Eurasian Program at the Carnegie Endowment, chaired the discussion.
The meeting launched the UNDP-sponsored Blue Ribbon Commission Report for Ukraine: “Proposals for the President: A New Wave of Reforms.” The Commission was initiated by Dr. Mizsei, and it was co-chaired by Anders Åslund. Click here for more information on the report.
