Luncheon Keynote: Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg

Mon. April 6th, 2009
Washington, DC

2009 Carnegie International Nonproliferation Conference Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg called for greater U.S. action toward nuclear disarmament and control of nuclear materials. Speaking before a crowd of public officials, diplomats, industry representatives and experts at the Carnegie Endowment's biannual International Nonproliferation Conference, Steinberg reiterated the promises of President Obama's landmark Sunday address in Prague. In the post-Cold War world, Steinberg said, the United States has both a strategic interest and a moral obligation to take steps toward global nuclear disarmament.
