Carnegie’s Washington-based Middle East Program and the Carnegie Middle East Center jointly hosted two policy writing workshop for junior and senior scholars working across Carnegie’s regional partner think network and Sada’s youth network. The workshops included sessions on impactful writing, from audience tone to structure and language, headed by Carnegie’s lead editor. Another session by the Carnegie Middle East Center’s director of communications covered how publications influence the global policy community and how scholars can better disseminate their work through various communications channels. The workshops also hosted a Carnegie senior associate who discussed his own experiences in researching, writing and publishing a policy paper. Participants broke into smaller groups to analyze articles and engaged in discussions about crafting effective messages for global audiences. Carnegie scholars gave them feedback on their ideas and discussions.
