The 2014 crisis in Ukraine sent a tottering U.S.-Russian relationship over a cliff—a dangerous descent into deep mistrust, severed ties, and potential confrontation reminiscent of the Cold War period. Robert Legvold’s new book, Return to Cold War, offers a fresh perspective on the current state of the relationship between Russia and the West, and explores its commonalities with the original Cold War.
Carnegie hosted a public event at which Legvold presented his analysis, underscored the broader significance of this present critical juncture, and suggested actions that both sides can take to make this new cold war as short and shallow as possible.
