October 7th Two Years On: An Assessment

As we enter the third year of the Israel-Hamas conflict, an end  to the war, let alone any semblance of a day after strategy for Gaza, remain as elusive as ever. With their mutual goals all but irreconcilable, neither the Netanyahu government nor Hamas show any desire to bring the conflict to an end unless it is on their own terms. And outside parties, including the Trump administration, key Arab states, and European powers, have failed to persuade or compel the two combatants to end their conflict. Meanwhile, the hostages and the Palestinian civilian population of Gaza continue to endure horrific conditions.  

How does the war end? Is a day-after plan offering more security and prosperity for the people of Gaza possible? What does the future hold for the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict? And what role is there for the Trump Administration and key Arab states moving forward?
