The Baltic states are enthusiastic members of NATO, the EU, the eurozone, and the Schengen passport-free travel area. They deserve the West’s unequivocal support.

Those parts of the UK that voted on June 23 to remain in the European Union should be allowed to do so, while the rest should be free to leave.

German politicians including Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble are using thinly veiled threats to try to keep Britain in the EU. That approach is unlikely to work.

For its achievements in making the continent more boring after 1989, the European Union deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
