Pramit Bhattacharya writes the “Truth, Lies, and Statistics” column for Mint and the “Simply Economics” column for Hindustan Times, two of India’s leading dailies. Pramit was earlier the data editor at Mint, where he helped set up one of the country’s first data journalism units, “Plain Facts,” in 2014. He won the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award 2015 in the “commentary and interpretative journalism” category for his explanatory economics column, “Economics Express.” Pramit was trained in the study of economics and contemporary India at Cotton College, Guwahati, Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai, and at the King’s India Institute, King’s College London.
