Saodat Olimova was an associate in the al-Farabi Carnegie Program on Central Asia and head of the public opinion department at the SHARQ (ORIENS) Research Center in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. She is an internationally recognized expert on labor migration, Islam and society, and political and social issues more generally in Central Asia. Prior to her work at SHARQ, Olimova was the department head and a senior researcher at the Tajik Academy of Sciences’ Institute of World Economy and International Relations.
