Policymakers in Beijing are more concerned about long-term reforms than short-term growth prospects, according to Carnegie’s Yukon Huang.  Speaking on CCTV’s Biz Asia America, Huang said that whether growth slows to 7.5 percent or below 7 percent is not so important to leaders, although markets are very nervous. This moderating growth is a natural progression that other successful East Asian economies have also gone through, he added.
