Carnegie’s Dmitri Trenin spoke on BBC Radio 4 about the situation in Ukraine. There is currently an attempt from Moscow to prevent Kyiv from sending forces to Crimea and to seal it from the rest of Ukraine, Trenin said. There are many options on the table—from the enhancement of the status of Crimea within Ukraine to the admission of it to the Russian Federation.
Trenin argued that this is the most dangerous moment since the end of the Cold War, with the risk of not only an escalation of tension between Ukraine and Russia, but also between Russia and NATO.
