LONDON—Prospect magazine names Carnegie Europe the 2014 European Think Tank of the Year.
The Prospect Think Tank of the Year Awards are an annual celebration of the important and influential work done by think tanks across the globe. The awards give credit to the most original, influential, and rigorous work on the most pressing challenges facing people, governments, and businesses today.
“Carnegie Europe was praised by the judges for its excellent access, its convening power, and its willingness to speak difficult truths to power,” Prospect affirmed.
“I am delighted that a think tank dedicated to strengthening Europe’s strategic role in the world was awarded this year’s prize,” Carnegie Europe Director Jan Techau said.
“Carnegie Europe’s team of scholars and staff have worked hard to inspire a more outward-looking debate on European affairs, a cause that I believe will be increasingly relevant as globalization proceeds and the world order becomes more brittle,” Techau added. “I feel very much encouraged and motivated by Prospect’s prestigious award.”
This year’s jury included writer and former Economist editor Bill Emmott, the Bank of England’s Chief Economist Andy Haldane, the BBC’s Diplomatic Correspondent Bridget Kendall, and member of parliament Gisela Stuart. The jury was led by Prospect’s editor, Bronwen Maddox.

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace was short-listed for the USA Think Tank of the Year Award.
