Carnegie Middle East Center’s senior fellow, Yezid Sayigh joined Inside Story on Al-Jazeera English to discuss the recent Hamas-Fatah reconciliation deal. Sayigh explained that although the current deal does not resolve all pending issues, a more comprehensive one might run into total Israeli resistance.

Sayigh says that all parties involved have strong tactical reasons to make this reconciliation deal work. However, Sayigh believes that the success of this deal, at least in the first phase, depends on whether the US, the EU, and gulf countries will back it up.
