Western delegations to the International Atomic Energy Agency governing board are considering a push to have Iran referred back to the U.N. Security Council for possible action over the nation's nuclear program. The move could come at the November meeting of the Board of Governors, based on long-held claims that Tehran has obstructed the U.N. nuclear watchdog's efforts to ensure that Iranian atomic activities have no military component. The Security Council has already hit Iran with four sanctions resolutions during the nuclear standoff.

The Security Council has already hit Iran with four sanctions resolutions during the nuclear standoff. The nuclear agency's safeguards chief, Herman Nackaerts, on Saturday concluded a five-day trip to Iran that included tours of its uranium enrichment sites and a heavy-water reactor. Such facilities could be used to produce weapon-usable uranium or plutonium. Iran insists its nuclear program is strictly civlian in nature. Full Article
