Japan Gives Preliminary OK To Restart Two Reactors

Kansai Electric Power Co. President Makoto Yagi on Monday presented trade minister Yukio Edano with a medium- to long-term timetable for taking safety measures needed to restart two idled reactors at its Oi nuclear power plant in Fukui Prefecture. Edano told Yagi to explore chances to hasten the plans and Yagi said it would try its best.     Full Article

Persian Gulf States, U.S. to Jointly Build Ballistic Missile Shield

The six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council and the United States have tentatively agreed to build a regional ballistic missile defense system, Bahraini Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Khalifa said on Thursday. Khalid attributed the decision to establish a sectoral antimissile architecture as a response to Iran.    Full Article
