Negotiating with Pakistan: Lessons from the Past

Mon. February 15th, 2016
New Delhi

India’s decision to renew dialogue with Pakistan has generated both widespread interest and concern. The focus of the debate has largely been on the utility and sustainability of the talks. With the question of whether or not the talks will happen having been answered by the government, the debate must shift to a discussion on how New Delhi might conduct these negotiations, and what  India might ‘learn’ and ‘unlearn’ from its past engagement with Pakistan.

Carnegie India and the India International Center hosted a closed-door, roundtable discussion on these topics.
