Beijing's new fuel emission standards make the city a leader in improving China's air quality.

Speaking on CCTV, Carnegie's Wang Tao explained that the new standard for vehicle emissions is the latest government initiative and a significant step toward tackling Beijing’s air pollution. However, he warned that “yellow plate” vehicles, Beijing’s geography, and also individual behavior all must be addressed and considered if Beijing is to truly to improve its air quality.
