Three years after the October 7th attacks, the Middle East is roiled by instability and unresolved conflicts. Gaza remains divided, impoverished, and sporadically violent with two million Palestinians coping with terrible living conditions. Hamas remains the preeminent political actor in Gaza and Israel continues to increase the territory it controls, while Israeli settler violence in the West Bank surges. Hezbollah is down but not out in Lebanon, and the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict is adding stress to both the Gulf states and the global oil economy. Will the looming Israeli elections change anything? Can the Trump administration find a way forward with its Board of Peace 20-point plan? What are the chances of any progress in the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict?

Shira Efron
Senior Fellow, Rand Corporation
Dr. Shira Efron is the distinguished chair for Israel Policy and a senior fellow at RAND. A leading expert in Israeli and Middle Eastern affairs, Dr. Efron brings two decades of experience in policy analysis and research in a variety of Washington think tanks. She had previously also advised Israel's Ministry of Defense and its National Security Council and was a consultant for the UN focusing primarily on Gaza.
Jaser AbuMousa
Senior Fellow, Middle East Institute
Jaser AbuMousa is a Senior Fellow at the Middle East Institute. A Palestinian program manager and political analyst with over 20 years of experience leading governance, reconstruction, and conflict-sensitive development in Gaza, Jaser blends rigorous analysis with practitioner pragmatism to safeguard civilians and strengthen institutions.
Daniel Byman
Director, Warfare, Irregular Threats, and Terrorism Program, CSIS
Daniel Byman is a professor at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and the director of the Warfare, Irregular Threats, and Terrorism Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is also the Foreign Policy Editor for Lawfare. He previously served in several academic leadership positions at Georgetown and as a Senior Advisor to the Department of State as part of the International Security Advisory Board.
