Sunni militants with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria are clashing with Iraqi military units in the city of Baqubah, 40 miles from Baghdad. One of the last cities standing between ISIS and the Iraqi capital, the United States is sending 275 Marines to the threatened city to protect the American embassy and other facilities. Air strikes and Special Forces operations are also on the table, according to a report by the Associated Press. RT’s Manila Chan spoke with Lina Khatib, director of the Carnegie Middle East Center, to learn more about ISIS and the threat it poses.
